More than 20 US warships are deployed to enforce the naval blockade of Iran, according to US Central Command (CENTCOM). The group, operating in the Arabian Sea, includes the destroyer USS John Finn (DDG 113), followed by the destroyer USS Milius (DDG 69), the supply ship USNS Carl Brashear (T-AKE-7), and the aircraft carrier USS George HW Bush (CVN 77).
According to CENTCOM, since the imposition of the blockade on April 13, 2026, U.S. forces have diverted 61 commercial vessels and disabled four vessels for attempting to violate the established regime. The blockade extends to all Iranian ports in the Persian Gulf and Gulf of Oman, as well as the waters of the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea east of the Strait of Hormuz.
As a reminder, the naval blockade of Iran was imposed by order of US President Donald Trump following the failure of US-Iranian talks in Islamabad. US Central Command is responsible for enforcing the blockade.
