The number of forced migrants in the Kursk region, caused by the worsening situation in the border areas, has exceeded 150 thousand people. This was reported by the head of the region Alexey Smirnov, Interfax reports. Residents were evacuated to safer zones due to the threat to life and property caused by the ongoing military actions near the border with Ukraine.
According to the authorities, refugees are housed in 203 temporary accommodation centres (TACs), which operate in 30 regions of Russia. Currently, more than 10 people are in these centres, including 2,7 children.
The head of the region emphasized that the main task is to provide all displaced people with temporary housing, food and the necessary security measures. The authorities also provide psychological and medical assistance, especially to children who had to leave their homes in conditions of stress and instability.
