A fuel tank caught fire while moving in the Severomuisky tunnel in Buryatia - a version of sabotage is being considered

On the night of November 29 in Buryatia, a fuel tank caught fire while moving through the Severomuysky tunnel on the East Siberian Railway. The event took place on the Itykit – Okushikan stretch. The 15-kilometer-long tunnel was the scene of an incident when a carriage from a freight train caught fire. "Baza" reports this.

At the time of the incident, the train contained 41 tanks with fuel, 3 tanks with aviation fuel and 6 wagons with ferrous metal. The train was traveling from Taishet station. Recovery and firefighting trains quickly arrived at the scene of the incident. Luckily, there were no casualties or injuries, but the incident delayed the movement of ten freight trains.

The cause of the fire has not been established at this time. However, according to Baza journalists, the possibility of sabotage cannot be ruled out. Police and FSB officers have begun an investigation into the incident, during which train parking areas and other potentially important points are being examined. The circumstances of the incident continue to be investigated.
