COVID-19 in Russia: Kadyrov announces the closure of Chechnya for everyone

The head of Chechnya announced the complete closure of the borders of the republic.

Due to the sharp aggravation of the situation with the spread of coronavirus infection in Russia and the death of the first resident of Chechnya, the head of the republic, Ramzan Kadyrov, announced the complete closure of the borders, both for entry and exit. The deadline for returning to Chechnya was April 4, after which none of the region’s inhabitants will be able to leave the republic or enter it.

“This became known during a meeting of the Operational Headquarters to prevent the importation and spread of coronavirus infection in the Chechen Republic under the leadership of Ramzan Kadyrov. The head of the Chechen Republic urged residents of the region to return to their homeland before April 5. Otherwise, they will not be able to enter or leave the republic. Ramzan Kadyrov noted that if there is an urgent need for the removal of a seriously ill patient, transportation to other regions will be organized. The head of the region recalled that the restrictions will not affect the transport of food and medicine ”- сообщает "Chechen State Television and Radio Company" Grozny "".

It should be clarified that today the situation with mortality among patients with coronavirus in Chechnya is rather unfavorable, in particular, the ratio of deaths to the number of infected is 10%, which is one of the highest rates in the Russian Federation, however, at the same time, the republic is one of those regions where the regime of universal isolation is most respected.
