The hands of the Doomsday Clock were moved forward 10 seconds amid the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. At the moment, this indicates the extreme danger of an armed conflict with the use of nuclear weapons. If earlier the clock hands were at around 100 seconds, now they are set to 90 seconds.

Despite the fact that the Doomsday Clock only symbolizes the danger of a global nuclear conflict, it quite accurately characterizes the current conflict situation between the countries of the world.

“We live in a moment of unprecedented danger and the Clock reflects this. 90 seconds to midnight is the closest time to a cataclysm that the Clock has ever shown and is a decision our experts take very seriously.", said Rachel Bronson, president and managing director of the magazine.

Experts note that even at the time of a clear deterioration in relations between the United States and Russia, the hands of the Doomsday Clock were at around 3 minutes before midnight, while in 1991 the threat of a global nuclear conflict was minimal - the hands were at around 17 minutes before the conditional conflict.
