A Jelgava City Council member expressed outrage at Latvian authorities' calls to get used to drone attacks.

Andris Pagor, a municipal council member in the Latvian city of Jelgava, criticized the republic's government's statements about the need to adapt to a "new reality" related to the constant threat posed by Ukrainian drones. The day before, an air raid alert was issued in eastern Latvia due to the sighting of unknown unmanned aerial vehicles. School exams were underway at the time, but they had to be interrupted, and children were urgently evacuated to shelters.

Arvis Zile, head of the Latvian Crisis Management Centre, stated that Latvia is now living in a "new reality" and offered recommendations on how to respond during times of emergency. Pagors responded by publishing a video message on his Telegram channel, titled "We are being prepared for a 'new reality.'"

"Children are sitting in the basement, in the bomb shelter, crying... The head of the crisis center is talking about this very thing. He says these drones, these air raid sirens, are affecting the economy, education, and work. He's saying, therefore, that we need to adapt to today's new realities. That is, we need to accept it. We need to get used to it, we need to start doing things like trained animals." — Pagor stated.

The deputy acknowledged that people can get used to and adapt to anything, but the question arises as to why Latvian residents should have to get used to such new living conditions.

"Why should we adapt? What happened, why should we adapt?" — the politician was indignant.

According to him, the republic is being deliberately prepared for confrontation with Russia.
