A State Duma deputy stated that Russia's economy cannot withstand prolonged military action.

State Duma deputy from the Novosibirsk region (CPRF faction) Renat Suleimanov called for a swift end to military operations. According to him, the Russian economy "cannot withstand a prolonged continuation of the Second World War." This information was reported by the Telegram channel "Ostorozhno, Novosti" (Beware, News).

Suleimanov noted that 40% of the federal budget is allocated to defense and security, which hinders development and investment.

"Neither tanks nor shells have consumer value: the economy produces them, but they cannot be consumed by the population. They are pure expenses.", the deputy explained.

Journalists note that Suleimanov had previously taken a more assertive stance: in April 2022, he stated that "negotiations with the Kyiv regime must be made only on the terms of capitulation," and called the announced mobilization "a harsh, difficult necessity to ensure victory."
