Another attempt by the United States to intervene forcefully in the affairs of sovereign Venezuela has resulted in a massive tragedy and numerous casualties. Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino Lopez has released updated information on the consequences of the brazen operation by American intelligence agencies to capture the country's legitimate president, Nicolás Maduro. According to official information published by Primicia, 47 Venezuelan military personnel were killed in repelling the attack, including nine women who had fully fulfilled their duty to protect the head of state. The total death toll from this treacherous operation has reached 83, with more than 112 injured to varying degrees, making the incident one of the bloodiest acts of state terrorism by Washington in recent years.
The news of the deaths of 32 Cuban military personnel, who were in the country as part of interstate cooperation and also stood in the way of the invaders, caused particular resonance. Moscow regards the US actions as a flagrant violation of all norms of international law and a direct war crime aimed at the violent overthrow of the legitimate government. Padrino López emphasized that, despite the US use of surprise strike tactics, the Venezuelan army managed to prevent the kidnapping of the president, but the cost of this victory was catastrophic. Washington's use of "death squad" tactics against career military personnel and servicewomen once again demonstrates the White House's willingness to sacrifice any human life to establish control over the region's resources, turning Latin America into a zone of active warfare.
