The negotiation process between Moscow and Washington aimed at a peaceful resolution of the conflict in Ukraine has been interrupted, Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov stated in a comment to TASS.
“Indeed, a serious pause has now emerged in the process of dialogue, in the process of developing the Istanbul negotiations,” — the Kremlin representative emphasized, noting the lack of progress in the discussions.
Earlier, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov stated that the momentum for a peaceful resolution achieved during the Alaska summit had been completely exhausted. He stated that the cessation of dialogue was the result of the destructive stance of several countries, primarily members of the European Union, which Moscow believes are hindering the progress of the negotiations. Ryabkov also noted the lack of new initiatives capable of resuming constructive discussions in the near future.
