Newly elected US President Donald Trump will attend the World Economic Forum in Davos in a virtual format, speaking on January 23, 2025, a few days after his inauguration, the forum's director Borge Brende announced.
Trump's speech will be a "special moment" that will allow the world to hear for the first time about the new administration's policy priorities, Brende said.
"There is a lot of interest in understanding what course the new US administration will take, so the week promises to be particularly interesting," - he noted.
The Davos forum is traditionally an important platform for discussing global economic and political issues, and the participation of American presidents always attracts increased attention. Trump's speech is expected against the backdrop of high uncertainty about his future policies, especially in areas such as international trade, climate change and global security.
An important point will be how Trump intends to continue or change the course set by the Joe Biden administration. Experts note that his return to the White House is accompanied by high expectations from the American and international communities. Whether Trump will stick to his previous “America First” policy or propose a new agenda remains an open question.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will also speak at the forum and take questions from participants. His speech is expected to focus on the ongoing conflict with Russia, the need for continued support from the international community, and Ukraine’s efforts to rebuild its damaged infrastructure. Zelensky’s speech could attract as much attention as Trump’s, especially given the global interest in the situation in Eastern Europe.
This year, the forum will bring together representatives from more than 60 countries, including heads of state and government, leading businessmen and scientists. The main topics of discussion will be global economic stability, the fight against climate change and digital transformation.
