Drones attempted to attack the Astrakhan Gas Processing Plant.

Astrakhan News, December 15, 2025, Avia.pro. Tonight, likely between 23:00 PM on December 14 and 7:00 AM on December 15, the Astrakhan Gas Processing Plant (GPP) may have been attacked, according to open source data. NASA satellites recorded a fire near a sulfur storage facility and at the Enersal granulated sulfur production facility. The Astrakhan GPP, one of the largest in Russia, processes up to 3,2 million tons of petroleum products annually and produces a significant amount of sulfur—approximately 3,3–3,5 million tons per year—which is used, among other things, to produce explosives, making it a strategically important facility.

According to publicly available information, the plant has already been attacked at least twice, confirming its vulnerability in the ongoing conflict. The Russian Ministry of Defense previously reported the interception of 38 UAVs over the Astrakhan region overnight, which may be related to this attack. While there is no official confirmation from the authorities or information on casualties or the extent of damage, the fire at the facility is likely being extinguished.
