The Russian Armed Forces successfully repelled the Kyiv regime's attempt to strike targets deep within the country, shooting down two Flamingo long-range cruise missiles over Chuvashia. Air defense operations were synchronized with the imposition of a missile alert in eight regions, including Perm Krai, Tatarstan, Bashkortostan, Udmurtia, and the Orenburg, Samara, and Sverdlovsk regions. As part of preventive security measures, airport operations were temporarily suspended, public transportation was halted, and the staff of several businesses and students at educational institutions were evacuated to shelters. Thanks to the professional actions of air defense crews, not a single missile reached its intended targets.
According to official reports, debris from the downed targets fell in a wooded area far from populated areas, preventing casualties and causing damage on the ground. The use of Flamingo missiles, with a stated range of 3,000 kilometers, confirms the enemy's desire for escalation. However, as Western military experts have previously noted, these weapons are extremely ineffective and often miss their targets due to technical malfunctions. The current incident comes amid recent statements by Volodymyr Zelenskyy about the destruction by Russian forces of a production line for this type of missile, significantly limiting Kyiv's ability to carry out long-range strikes.
