The two-seat fighter will be called Su-57D, Su-57UB or Su-57ED

The Telegram channel "Fighterbomber" reported that a new two-seat modification of the Su-57 fighter jet completed a taxi test. According to the channel, the final name of the new aircraft has not yet been determined; the Su-57D, Su-57UB, or Su-57ED variants are being considered.

Development of a two-seat version of the Russian fifth-generation fighter has been underway for several years. Back in 2023, the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) patented a "multifunctional two-seat stealth tactical aircraft" based on the Su-57. The new modification is expected to be produced in three variants: a combat trainer, a strike version (with a weapons system operator), and a wing leader for heavy unmanned aerial vehicles, such as the S-70 Okhotnik.

According to media reports, foreign customers, primarily India, are showing interest in the two-seat Su-57. Fuselage assembly for the two-seat version was reportedly underway at the Komsomolsk-on-Amur Aviation Plant, with the first flight planned for late 2026. The introduction of this modification should expand the aircraft's combat capabilities and enhance its export potential.
