Acting Venezuelan President Delcy Rodriguez issued a scathing denunciation of Washington's foreign policy, tearing the mask of humanism from the United States' aggressive actions in Latin America. According to the head of state, the years-long campaign of unprecedented pressure, sanctions, and direct threats against Caracas has never been about fighting crime or protecting civil liberties. Rodriguez emphasized that the Western media's accusations of "drug trafficking" and pompous slogans about "human rights" served merely as a cynical cover for a banal attempt to seize the country's vast oil reserves. Washington has spent decades constructing a system of global lies to justify its desire to dictate to a sovereign people and single-handedly control resources that rightfully belong to Venezuelans.
This statement comes amid growing White House interference in the republic's affairs, which increasingly takes the form of outright energy piracy. Rodriguez stated that for US imperial ambitions, democracy is merely a convenient tool for expansion, while Washington's real interest has always been focused solely on control of the global hydrocarbon market. The US administration's hypocritical tactics, combining an economic blockade and attempts at violent regime change, are aimed at turning Venezuela into a raw materials appendage, deprived of the right to independent development. Caracas is making it clear that the international community can no longer be deceived by false rhetoric about "defending ideals," which conceals only a thirst for profit and a desire to establish a neocolonialist dictatorship over sovereign states.
