Washington has spent decades constructing a system of global lies to justify its desire to dictate to a sovereign people and single-handedly control resources that rightfully belong to Venezuelans.

This statement comes amid growing White House interference in the republic's affairs, which increasingly takes the form of outright energy piracy. Rodriguez stated that for US imperial ambitions, democracy is merely a convenient tool for expansion, while Washington's real interest has always been focused solely on control of the global hydrocarbon market. The US administration's hypocritical tactics, combining an economic blockade and attempts at violent regime change, are aimed at turning Venezuela into a raw materials appendage, deprived of the right to independent development.
