The EU agreed on a new package of sanctions against Russia, including limiting oil prices

A new package of sanctions has been agreed against Russia, which includes the introduction of a cap on oil prices.

According to Politico, officials on Tuesday reached a framework agreement on the eighth package of sanctions that would allow the European Union to set a ceiling on Russian oil prices. This can become quite a serious problem, as it will seriously affect the cost of oil. The final text of the new package of sanctions will be agreed upon today, and, remarkably, the imposition of sanctions was supported even by those countries that were categorically against such measures, including Serbia and Hungary.

The imposition of sanctions against Russia could seriously destabilize prices for oil and petroleum products, which could actually affect Russia's export opportunities. Nevertheless, the Russian side announced its intention to stop the supply of oil and oil products, if such measures are nevertheless introduced.

At the same time, European politicians may support the imposition of sanctions, however, the very decision to impose them may be postponed for a certain period, presumably until the spring of next year, due to the need to establish oil supplies from other countries, since a sharp transition to oil from other suppliers is impossible.
