The European Union said Monday it had received "credible" intelligence from its allies that Iran had supplied ballistic missiles to Russia, raising concerns in Brussels that confirmation of the supplies could mean an escalation of the conflict in Ukraine involving new types of weapons, France 24 reported.
As EU spokesman Peter Stano noted, the allies shared information that indicates that Iran did indeed transfer missiles to Russia.
“We are carefully studying this data with our member states and if the fact of deliveries is confirmed, this will be a significant increase in Iran’s material support to Russia,” — Stano emphasized.
He also added that the EU is ready to respond to this with “new and significant restrictive measures against Iran” in coordination with international partners.
