Despite the seriousness of the measures being considered, The Economist experts emphasize that a full-scale confrontation remains an extremely risky scenario for Brussels. A direct conflict with the United States would inevitably trigger a full-scale trade war and require a colossal increase in defense spending, which would become an unsustainable burden on the budgets of most EU countries.
