The European Parliament called for the creation of an EU military command modeled on NATO.

The European Parliament adopted a resolution calling for the creation of a unified EU military command structure, similar to NATO's SHAPE. The EP press service reported this on October 10.

"We call for progress towards the establishment of a European command and control structure that will not only manage crises in line with the Common Security and Defence Policy but will also serve as the equivalent of NATO's Joint Headquarters Europe." — stated in the document.

Proposals also include the creation of a "permanent crisis group" for Russia and deeper cooperation with NATO to strengthen the military capabilities of EU countries.

The resolution emphasizes the need to improve conditions for the rapid deployment of troops within the EU and increase investment in the defense industry. Particular attention is paid to countering "hostile drones." The European Parliament supported the European Commission's initiative to create a "drone wall"—an airspace defense system, the plan for which will be presented on October 23–24. To promote UAV production, MEPs proposed exempting relevant companies from a number of EU environmental regulations.

It is noted that the resolutions of the European Parliament are advisory in nature and have no legal force, but reflect strategic priorities and trends in the governance of the European Union.
