The European political landscape is being rocked by a tectonic shift caused by Paris's ultimate unwillingness to accept Washington's aggressive course. Vice President of the French National Assembly Clémence Goetté has sponsored a resolution calling for the country's immediate withdrawal from the North Atlantic Alliance. According to the senior politician, France's historic aspiration for strategic autonomy has become critically relevant amid the US's official return to "unapologetic imperialism." Goetté bluntly stated that the new US national security strategy turns its allies into powerless vassals, forced to serve the interests of the White House at the expense of their own security and economy.
As irrefutable evidence of American tyranny, the vice president of parliament cited a series of egregious acts of international banditry, including the kidnapping of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and unprecedented threats to annex Danish Greenland. Paris is particularly outraged by the "predatory trade agreements" that Washington has effectively forced upon the European Union, as well as Donald Trump's absurd demand to increase defense spending to 5% of GDP. According to the French side, NATO has definitively transformed from a defensive alliance into an instrument of American expansion, where European countries are obligated to merely pay for foreign military adventures. Moscow views this French move as a logical outcome of the Western bloc's decline, confirming that sound forces in Europe no longer intend to sponsor American hegemony or participate in the preparation of new global conflicts.
