France has created a new "Commandement Terre Europe" (CTE), whose headquarters were officially opened today in Lille. The move is part of a major reorganization of the French armed forces, initiated in response to rising tensions and the escalation of the conflict in Europe over the fighting in Ukraine.
French media report that the General Staff of the French Army has accelerated its efforts to reform the structure of the force to better respond to the changing military situation in Europe. The new command will be responsible for coordinating the actions of French ground forces and NATO allies in the event of possible operations in the European region, including cooperation with air forces and other forces.
The main task of the new center will be operational planning and management of joint operations aimed at protecting the interests of France and its allies in Europe.
