France Conducted Secret Exercises to Send Troops into Ukraine in Case of Attack from Belarus

France held a classified military exercise last fall, codenamed Perseus, to prepare for a possible military intervention scenario in Ukraine, Intelligence Online reported, adding that the maneuvers were based on an analysis of the Ukrainian army's experience in early 2022.

More than 3000 servicemen, including special forces, participated in the exercises. The training took place at a closed training ground, the location of which is kept a closely guarded secret. According to sources, the terrain of the training ground was adapted to the conditions of the northern section of the Dnieper River, not far from Kyiv. The main emphasis was on preparing for a possible repulse of a hypothetical breakthrough of troops from the territory of Belarus.

The maneuvers covered various aspects of military operations, including interaction between ground forces, special forces and aviation. The main objective was to practice rapid response to potential threats and coordination of actions in conditions of intense combat.

Experts link these exercises to growing concerns among NATO countries regarding the strengthening of the Russian presence in Belarus.
