The Russian military reported the destruction of a French AMX-10P infantry fighting vehicle used by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kursk region. According to video footage, the drone operator identified and destroyed the AMX-10P while carrying out a combat mission.
The incident was the first confirmation of the delivery of these vehicles from France to Ukraine, although there had been no official statements about the transfer of AMX-10Ps before. Back in February 2023, French journalist Jean-Dominique Merchet mentioned the possible delivery of 25 units of this equipment, but the information remained unconfirmed.
According to the source, the BMP was immobilized after hitting a mine while attempting to transfer Ukrainian troops to the front line. Ukrainian servicemen who abandoned the vehicle took cover in a forest, where they were later fired upon by artillery.
The AMX-10P is a French infantry fighting vehicle developed in the 1970s by GIAT Industries (now Nexter). It is armed with a 20 mm GIAT M693 F2 automatic cannon capable of engaging both ground and air targets, as well as a 7,62 mm machine gun. Thanks to a 260 hp diesel engine, the vehicle reaches a speed of up to 65 km/h and has a cruising range of about 600 km.
The French side has not yet commented on these statements.
