France is continuing to consider sending troops to Ukraine despite a backlash from some Western countries, European Affairs Minister Benjamin Haddad told the Berliner Zeitung. Haddad, who recently took up his post, confirmed that the idea remains on the agenda, and President Emmanuel Macron has called for such a scenario not to be ruled out in the future.
Answering questions from journalists, the minister stressed that France, as a key player in the international arena, must consider all possible measures to support Ukraine, including sending troops and conducting training missions for Ukrainian servicemen.
"President Macron said we should not rule out anything, and that remains the case. It is important to discuss with our allies potential actions, including participation in training missions.", Haddad noted.
However, the minister stressed that no final decisions have been made yet, and the issue of sending French troops requires coordination with other NATO and EU allies. Discussions are also ongoing within the French leadership regarding the possible consequences of such a move.
