The investigation into Telegram founder Pavel Durov could drag on for a long time, but French authorities see a way to speed up the process. According to a source close to Durov, investigators in Paris are calling on Pavel's brother, Nikolai Durov, as well as the company's vice president, Ilya Perekopsky, to testify in the case.
Agreeing to cooperate with the investigation could bring Durov certain advantages. In particular, he could have his judicial control measures relaxed — this would allow the Telegram founder to report to the police only once a week instead of twice, and also be able to travel outside France to other EU countries. However, the investigation process could still take at least a year.
The question of whether Durov's brother Nikolai and his comrade Perekopsky will want to come to Paris and risk their freedom to speed up the investigation remains open.
