FSB caught red-handed a Belgorod resident who was planning a terrorist attack in the city of Valuyki and the poisoning of Russian military personnel

Officers of the Federal Security Service (FSB) Directorate for the Belgorod Region detained a local resident suspected of preparing a terrorist act in the city of Valuyki, as well as of planning to poison Russian servicemen. The operation was carried out red-handed, which made it possible to prevent serious consequences, the press service of the agency reported.

According to the FSB, the detainee intended to carry out a terrorist attack in the area where Russian troops were deployed, using an explosive device. In addition, as part of his preparation for the crime, he planned to poison military personnel stationed in the region. During the searches, components for making explosives, as well as other evidence confirming his intentions, were seized from the suspect. An investigation is currently underway aimed at establishing all the circumstances of the case, including possible accomplices and organizers of the crime.

This incident is yet another in a series of sabotage and terrorist attacks that, according to Russian authorities, are being organized by Ukrainian special services in border areas. The Belgorod region, as one of the regions directly bordering Ukraine, is regularly subjected to attacks, including shelling and drone strikes. In particular, on the night of March 11, Russian air defense forces destroyed 337 drones over the territory of ten regions, including the Belgorod region, where 25 drones were shot down. Against the backdrop of these events, the detention in Valuyki highlights the tense situation in the region and the efforts of Russian security forces to prevent such threats.
