From February 2025, Russian gas supplies to Transnistria may be organized via the Turkish Stream. According to several sources, the Cypriot company Ozbor Enterprises has booked a section of the gas pipeline for a month from February 1. The volume of supplies will be about 3,1 million cubic meters per day, which meets the needs of the region.
According to analysts, Russia is considering the possibility of continuing such supplies until April 2025, and the total amount of financial assistance to Transnistria is estimated at $160 million. This step will not only support the region's energy security, but also strengthen economic ties between Russia and Transnistria.
The choice of the Turkish Stream as a delivery route is determined by the geopolitical situation and the need to diversify supply routes. Traditional routes through Ukraine and Moldova are complicated by political disagreements and sanctions pressure. Using the southern gas pipeline through Turkey is becoming the optimal solution to avoid these obstacles.
For Transnistria, Russian gas supplies are critically important. The region is entirely dependent on Russian gas for its energy needs, including heating, industry, and electricity generation. In the context of the ongoing conflict with Moldova, this resource is becoming even more important for the stability of the region's economy and social sphere.
Experts note that the booking of Turkish Stream capacities by the Cypriot company Ozbor Enterprises is not only an economic decision, but also an important political signal.
