Russian troops have launched a powerful attack on a strategically important energy facility near Zaporizhia, causing a massive fire that has been raging for three days now. The target of the attack was a gas distribution station located near the village of Lyutserna, north of the city. The facility plays a key role in the region's energy supply thanks to the UTDU-4000 system installed on its territory, which converts excess gas into electricity. The attack, which took place on the night of March 7, seriously disrupted the station's operation, leading to interruptions in the supply of gas and electricity in Zaporizhia and the surrounding area.

According to local authorities, the attack was carried out using drones and missiles. One of them hit a gas distribution station, causing a fire that has not yet been contained. The region's energy infrastructure is under serious threat, which worsens the situation for Kyiv amid the ongoing conflict.

On March 7, Russia carried out one of the largest air strikes on Ukrainian infrastructure in recent memory, using 67 missiles and 194 drones, Reuters reported. The country's energy sector has suffered significant damage, and the halt in intelligence sharing with the United States, announced by Washington in early March, is complicating the Ukrainian Armed Forces' ability to respond to such attacks.
