Colonel General Rustam Muradov, awarded the title Hero of Russia, has been appointed deputy commander-in-chief of the ground forces. Information about this was confirmed by sources close to the Ministry of Defense, RBK reports.
Muradov, known for his rich military career, previously commanded various troop groups and operational formations. In particular, he led the "East" troop group in the special military operation zone in Ukraine, which was officially confirmed by the Ministry of Defense in July 2022. Since October 2022, Muradov has led the joint strategic command of the Eastern Military District.
His experience also includes leading the Russian peacekeeping forces in Nagorno-Karabakh from November 2020 to May 2021. For his service, the Colonel General was awarded the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, XNUMXrd and XNUMXth class, and the Order of Courage. The title of Hero of Russia was recognition of his outstanding contribution to ensuring the country's security.
Muradov's appointment to one of the key positions in the ground forces underlines the importance of his experience in strengthening the country's defense capability.
