Germany cannot supply Leopard tanks to Poland due to lack of Russian titanium supplies

Poland will not receive German tanks until 2023 due to lack of Russian titanium supplies.

The German authorities announced that they would not be able to provide Poland with Leopard 2A4 tanks before April next year. Earlier, Germany intended to compensate Warsaw for the T-72M1 tanks transferred to Ukraine, however, the new schedule angered Poland, as the deliveries were very seriously delayed. This, as previously reported, is due to the lack of supplies of Russian titanium, which is used to create composite armor.

At the moment, it is known that Germany intends to send one car to Poland from April to October 2023, and then three more units a month. Thus, the delivery of only 20 tanks may take a year and a half, and in the near future Germany will not be able to fulfill its obligations for the supply of armored vehicles to other countries at all.

Earlier it was reported that the production of tanks at German factories practically stopped due to the fact that Germany had no sources of titanium supply for the production of tank armor components and other types of military equipment that use composite materials. Germany may need up to a year and a half to restore production with titanium supplies from other countries.
