Germany announces transfer of 100 IRIS-T missiles to Ukraine

At the latest meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group (UDCG), which was attended by representatives of more than 50 countries, further support for Ukraine was confirmed in the form of military equipment supplies and training for Ukrainian servicemen. Particular attention was drawn to Germany's statement on its readiness to transfer about 100 IRIS-T guided missiles, which will be a key contribution to strengthening Ukraine's air defense system.

IRIS-T is a modern surface-to-air missile designed to engage various air targets at medium and short ranges. It is considered one of the most effective in its class.

This is not the first time that Germany has provided support to Ukraine with modern weapons. Earlier, Berlin transferred IRIS-T air defense systems, which have proven their high efficiency on the battlefield. The delivery of additional missiles will expand the capabilities of these systems and increase the level of protection of strategically important objects in Ukraine.

The Contact Group on Ukraine's Defense, established in 2022, continues to coordinate the international community's efforts to support Kyiv. It includes representatives from more than 50 countries, including key Western powers. The latest meeting discussed further strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities, increasing arms supplies, and developing military training programs.
