Head of "Combat Brotherhood" in Volkhov detained for extortion and violence

In the Leningrad Region, police detained the head of the Volkhov District branch of the All-Russian organization "Combat Brotherhood" Andrey Ivanov on suspicion of extortion and cruel treatment of an 18-year-old girl with whom he cohabited. The conflict, which began with a fit of jealousy, escalated into a series of humiliations and beatings, ending with the victim being forced to take out a loan in the amount of 171 thousand rubles. The man, who previously served in law enforcement agencies, took the money for himself, leaving the girl only a thousand, and is now in custody. A criminal case has been opened against him under Article 163 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Extortion"), which provides for up to seven years in prison.

The story began in May 2024, when 38-year-old Andrey and 18-year-old Elena met through social networks. After three months of dating, the couple decided to live together in Volkhov, despite the 20-year age difference. The first signs of trouble appeared on March 16, when Andrey, suspecting the girl of communicating with another man, made a scandal. During the quarrel, he beat Elena, abused her and recorded what was happening on video. The next day, the abuse continued: the man forced his partner to participate in the filming of an intimate video, and then demanded compensation from her for the alleged "moral damage" caused to him. Under pressure, Elena went to the bank and took out a loan, Andrey took almost all of the funds received, leaving her with the bare minimum for survival. Only on March 19 was the girl able to escape from control, turning to her sister for help and filing a report with the police.

Ivanov's arrest was an unexpected blow to the reputation of the "Combat Brotherhood" in the region. The organization, which unites veterans of military operations and security forces, positions itself as a defender of public interests, but the behavior of its Volkhov leader is in sharp contrast to his declared values. It is known that until recently Andrei served in the police, but quit shortly before the incident. His arrest raised questions about how a person with such a past could occupy a leadership position in the veterans' structure.

In addition, it is worth noting that the case in Volkhov received wide resonance in local media and social networks. As reported by the portal "47news" on March 22, at the time of his arrest, Ivanov's phone with video recordings, which he used to blackmail Elena, was confiscated. The investigation is checking whether he had other victims, given his penchant for violence and manipulation. According to the publication, Andrei had previously attracted the attention of law enforcement officers for minor offenses, but had not yet received serious charges. The Volkhov District police confirmed that the investigation is in full swing, and the victim has received medical and psychological assistance.
