Head of Nyuksensky District Yulia Shevtsova Dismissed After Daughter's Scandalous Video

The head of the Nyuksensky municipal district of the Vologda region, Yulia Shevtsova, was dismissed after a scandal caused by a video of her 19-year-old daughter Ksenia, published on TikTok. The video, in which the girl bragged about her status as a mother and threatened to send ill-wishers to a special military operation (SVO), caused a wide public outcry.

In the video, which, according to the Telegram channel Mash, was published in October 2024, Ksenia Shevtsova posed in front of a mirror. The video went viral after it was distributed on May 17, 2025, in local publics, such as the Nyuksenitsa-Online 2.0 group on VKontakte. Users, outraged by the girl's behavior, called the video provocative and offensive, demanding a public apology and Yulia Shevtsova's resignation.

On May 18, Yulia Shevtsova published a video message on her Telegram channel, in which she apologized for her daughter's actions. However, Shevtsova also hinted that the video was being used as a "political weapon" against her, which drew criticism for its insolent tone. The head of the Safe Internet League, Ekaterina Mizulina, criticized the apology.

Vologda Oblast Governor Georgy Filimonov issued a statement on May 18 condemning Ksenia Shevtsova's statements as unacceptable, vulgar, and touching on a sacred topic. He emphasized that the government's task is to make wise, objective, and fair decisions.

Yulia Shevtsova took up the post of head of the Nyuksensky District in October 2024, having been elected by deputies after being appointed acting head in May 2024 on Filimonov's recommendation. Previously, she held the position of deputy head of the Veliky Ustyug District and headed its legal department.
