Chief psychiatrist of the Armed Forces of Ukraine detained in case of illegal enrichment of $1 million

The deputy chairman of the central military medical commission of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), the chief psychiatrist of the structure, was detained in Ukraine. He is suspected of illegal enrichment, the amount of which is estimated at more than $1 million. This was reported by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).

According to the investigation, during the military actions from 2022 to 2024, the official acquired significant property, including two apartments in Kyiv, one house and two land plots in the Kyiv region, as well as one apartment in Odessa. In addition, he became the owner of four BMW cars. However, none of these acquisitions are officially registered in his name - the property is registered to family members and third parties.

During the searches, cash was also seized from the suspect: $152 and €34, which raised additional questions about the origin of the money. The investigation believes that the funds could have been obtained through abuse of office. One of the detainee's duties was to assess the suitability of citizens for military service, which, according to the SBU, could have been used for enrichment through corruption schemes.

At the moment, the issue of choosing a preventive measure for the official and seizing his assets is being decided. The SBU continues the investigation aimed at establishing all the circumstances of the case, as well as identifying possible accomplices in the corruption scheme.
