On the morning of May 19, 2026, reports that a Yaroslavl oil refinery was on fire as a result of a drone attack during the night were not officially confirmed. Local residents and Telegram channels reported explosions near the Yaroslavl refinery, Slavneft-YANOS, but regional authorities did not comment.
Yaroslavl Region Governor Mikhail Evraev confirmed the massive drone attack in the region. He stated that an industrial facility had been hit, but did not specify which facility or the nature of the damage. Evraev also reported that there were no casualties.
Earlier, due to the threat of an attack in Yaroslavl, traffic was temporarily closed on the outskirts of the city toward Moscow—from the intersection of Moskovsky Prospekt and the South-West Ring Road. The restrictions were later lifted.
According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, on the night of May 19, air defense forces destroyed 315 Ukrainian drones over 19 regions, including the Yaroslavl region.
