Red Wings Boeing burning with 425 people on board over Moscow region: What is known?

On the evening of December 3, Red Wings Airlines flight RWZ3097, en route from Moscow to Phuket, issued emergency signal 7700 and returned to the departure airport an hour after takeoff. The Boeing 777-200 was carrying 412 passengers and 13 crew members.

The plane took off from Domodedovo at 21:19 PM, 24 minutes late. Just a few minutes later, the crew reported a left engine fire and decided to return immediately. To reduce landing weight and minimize risks, the plane began a long circuit over the southern districts of the Moscow region: Bronnitsy, Ramenskoye, Voskresensk, and Zhukovsky.

According to Flightradar24 and the Telegram channels "112" and "Beware, Moscow," the plane ran out of fuel for over an hour at an altitude of 4-5 meters. Fire crews, ambulances, and emergency services personnel were on duty at Domodedovo Airport during this time.

Red Wings and Domodedovo Airport have not yet provided official comments, but sources within the airline confirm the engine malfunction.
