The US State Department reminded Turkey of the end of military cooperation with Russia.
US Assistant Secretary of State Wes Mitchell said that the United States of America does not abandon plans to impose sanctions against Turkey because of the country's intention to acquire Russian S-400 Triumph systems. Until the deal is completed, in particular, we are talking about the transfer of Russian air defense systems to Turkey under the concluded contract, Washington will continue to observe, but as soon as Turkey receives its first S-400 division, it will immediately be under political and economic sanctions.
"We have already made it clear that the acquisition of these systems will inevitably affect the further military and technical cooperation between Turkey and the United States, including in the matter of F-35 aircraft", - said Wes Mitchell.
On the other hand, military analysts noticed Washington's weakness in this matter, since initially the United States of America was categorically opposed to concluding a contract, but made a kind of concession, stressing that sanctions would be introduced only after the transfer of Russian air defense systems to Turkey.
"Washington is well aware that if sanctions are imposed against Turkey now, then a major deal for the purchase of this country by F-35 fighters will certainly be thwarted, and as a response, Turkey can easily" evict "the US military from its bases, which will greatly weaken the influence USA in this region. Moreover, Turkey has already made it clear that if the Pentagon breaks the deal on F-35, then Russian fifth-generation Su-57 fighters will be acquired, and this will seriously damage the US reputation ", - said the analyst Avia.pro.
It should be clarified that the representative of the US Senate earlier said that the main danger of buying the C-400 complexes is the possible detection of weaknesses of American fighters F-35 by these systems.
