Su-25 in Syria

The rooks arrived: Russia transferred its attack aircraft to the Hmeimim airbase. A photo

Preparations for a decisive blow to Idlib are being completed at the Russian air base.

This afternoon it became known that heavy military transport aircraft of the VKS of the Russian Federation delivered several Su-25 attack aircraft to the Hmeimim airbase in Syria. At the moment we are talking about at least three combat aircraft. However, according to experts, in fact, we can talk about 6-9 attack aircraft, which, obviously, will be used to storm the last stronghold of 100-thousand army of militants and terrorists in Idlib.

According to satellite imagery, the Su-25 attack aircraft were transferred to the Khmeimim airbase in a disassembled state, as evidenced by the satellite image taken on March 8. Already 12 March all three aircraft were assembled, and, obviously, ready to perform combat missions, moreover, given the fact that 13 March air strikes of the Russian Aerospace Forces were delivered along Idlib (one of the most powerful series of air strikes over the past six months - ed.) Su-25 attack aircraft could also be used to attack the positions of militants and terrorists.

According to experts, the three attack aircraft were delivered to Syria by heavy An-124 military transport aircraft, but the reasons why the attackers could not get to the Khmeymim airbase on their own remain unknown.

It should be clarified that in the second half of 2018, Russia withdrew all its Su-25 attack aircraft from Syria, leaving some of the bombers and fighters.

No official comments on this matter have been received by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
