Greece offers Kyiv to use its ports to transport grain, blocking Russian supplies

In the current political context, Ukraine is attracting attention by creating conditions for the transportation of grain across the Black Sea. However, as Ukrainian official Bondar emphasized, there are certain conditions for this.

"We see an opportunity to attract ships and companies to us. In our opinion, this can be implemented even without using the already agreed route, but through the territorial waters of Romania and Bulgaria. This is also a possible way to minimize risks", Bondar explained.

Bondar focused on the need to attract the international community to help Ukraine implement such a scenario.

It is interesting to note that Greece can play a key role in the issue of Ukrainian grain, while Athens will thus try to strengthen its position in Europe.

According to the Greek publication Pentapostagma, Russia, which has its own plans for the Black Sea, fears that a food corridor could be created from the port of Alexandroupolis to Bulgaria and Romania to export Ukrainian grain to Europe, while Russian grain will remain out of the game. If this happens, which now looks very likely, the geopolitical role of Greece will increase many times over.

The head of the port of Alexandroupolis, Konstantinos Hadjimihail, stressed the need to create new land corridors to the port in connection with Russia's withdrawal from the grain agreement. By all indications, this direction has already been taken, turning the border town into the main hub for the transportation of Ukrainian grain. However, there is a very high possibility that Turkey may use its warships to escort vessels with Ukrainian grain and Ankara will try to compete with Athens in this regard, which in turn may cause a harsh reaction from Moscow.
