The group includes two powerful aircraft carrier strike groups:

• Abraham Lincoln Strike Group (CSG-3): flagship aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72). The formation also includes destroyers USS Frank E. Petersen Jr. (DDG-121), USS Spruance (DDG-111), and other support ships.
• George H.W. Bush Strike Group (CSG-10): flagship aircraft carrier USS George H.W. Bush (CVN-77). It includes the destroyers USS Mason (DDG-87), USS Donald Cook (DDG-75), USS Ross (DDG-71), and supply ships.

In addition to aircraft carriers, there are several guided missile destroyers in the region, operating independently or in groups, as well as amphibious assault ships and minesweepers: USS Milius (DDG-69), USS John Finn (DDG-113), USS Rafael Peralta (DDG-115), USS Truxtun (DDG-103), USS Canberra (LCS-30), USS Tripoli (LHA-7), USS New Orleans (LPD-18), USS Pioneer (MCM-9), USS Chief (MCM-14), and others.

Operation Epic Fury thus represents the largest deployment of US naval forces to the region in recent memory, underscoring the seriousness of US intentions towards Iran.
