Georgia does not want to build a highway through Chechnya.

Russian News, December 15, 2025, Avia.pro. Chechen Republic Head Ramzan Kadyrov stated that Georgia is not yet ready to build a highway through Chechnya, which could serve as an alternative to the existing Georgian Military Highway linking Russian and Georgian territories. He stated this in an interview, emphasizing that the project is being discussed as a way to improve transportation links, but he believes the Georgian side is not demonstrating any readiness for implementation.

At the same time, Georgian Telegram channels indicate that Tbilisi lacks interest in this project. Local sources emphasize that Georgia fears the strengthening of Russian influence through infrastructure projects, especially given the tense relations and current geopolitical situation. The Georgian Military Highway remains the only direct land route.
