The cargo ship Grigory Lovtsov, which was carrying crushed stone and sand, sank off the coast of Sakhalin, which led to tragic consequences. According to preliminary data, the ship capsized due to a list that occurred during cargo handling. There were seven crew members on board at the time of the incident, three of whom were rescued, but four sailors are still missing.
A search and rescue operation was launched immediately after the incident, involving two tugboats and a rescue vessel. Rescuers are making every effort to locate the missing crew members. The search is currently ongoing, and its outcome remains uncertain.
The situation was reported by the head of the Sakhalin Region, Valery Limarenko, who emphasized the importance of coordinated work of rescue services in such cases and expressed hope for a successful completion of the operation. The circumstances of the tragedy are being clarified, and specialists continue to analyze the possible causes of the accident.
