Early in the morning of October 20, an incident occurred at Hong Kong Airport involving an Emirates SkyCargo Boeing 747-400 cargo plane, which skidded off the runway during landing, collided with a service vehicle, and partially ended up in the waters of the South China Sea.

According to Avia.pro journalists, the accident occurred at approximately 3:53 AM local time on the airport's northern runway. Flight EK9788, operated by Turkish operator Air ACT and with registration number TC-ACT, from Dubai failed to stop in time. As a result of the collision with ground vehicles, one employee was killed and another was hospitalized with injuries. Four crew members were unharmed and evacuated themselves.

The northern runway is temporarily closed to flights. Hong Kong Airport confirmed the incident, noting that police and aviation authorities are investigating the cause. Details regarding the cargo and possible environmental impacts are being clarified.
