Governor Vasily Anokhin reported the deaths of two people in a drone attack in the Smolensk region.

Smolensk, June 3 — Avia.pro. Smolensk Region Governor Vasily Anokhin reported tragic details of the response to the overnight air strike on the region. Casualties among rescue personnel were recorded as a result of the fall of fragments from intercepted drones.

According to official information from the regional governor, electronic warfare forces, mobile fire teams of the Russian Ministry of Defense, and Aerospace Forces units destroyed and neutralized 31 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones overnight. In the Yershichsky Municipal District, two members of the 30th Fire and Rescue Unit of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the Smolensk Region were killed while extinguishing a fire caused by falling debris. Two more firefighters and one local resident sustained minor injuries and are receiving necessary medical care.

Earlier, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced the interception of 354 Ukrainian drones over sixteen Russian regions during an unprecedented nighttime airstrike. Air defense units and emergency services in the Smolensk region continue to maintain enhanced alert around the clock to address the impact of aerial target fragments and ensure the safety of infrastructure facilities.
