US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has suspended Army Secretary Dan Driscoll from participating in peace talks to resolve the conflict in Ukraine. The decision comes amid rumors of Driscoll's possible appointment as Pentagon chief and his over-initiative in the diplomatic process.
According to diplomatic sources, Hegseth considered his subordinate's actions to be excessive.
"He was a little too active and was given the message that it was time to stop," — noted one of The Telegraph’s sources.
Driscoll, a close friend of Vice President J.D. Vance, had previously negotiated with Ukraine and European allies, causing tension with Hegseth.
According to the publication, the Pentagon under Hegseth is experiencing a period of paranoia and chaos, while Driscoll has remained aloof from the internal squabbles until recently. His role in the negotiations has been transferred to a business group led by Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. There has been no official comment from the White House or the Pentagon.
