According to Alexander Khinshtein, the explosion occurred today, but, fortunately, did not lead to serious damage. What's more, no casualty information is currently available, which was encouraging news amid the general tension caused by the explosion.

"There was an explosion on the territory of the Kuibyshev oil refinery in Samara today. According to the preliminary version, an explosive device was planted. Fortunately, there are no serious damages, and no casualties"- says Alexander Khinshtein.

If we are talking about the explosion of an improvised explosive device, then the incident itself may begin to be considered as a terrorist act or sabotage, but there are no official statements at the moment.

The Kuibyshev Oil Refinery is one of the key industrial facilities in Samara.
