Yemen's Houthi movement has stepped up its military activity, developing and using new missile technologies. According to sources, the Houthis recently tested a hypersonic ballistic missile, which was launched at Tel Aviv and covered a distance of 2000 kilometers in just 15 minutes. The Israeli air defense system was unable to intercept the missile; its debris fell on the territory of an industrial facility.
The Houthis say they plan to use the new weapons to strike strategic targets in Israel, including further attacks using hypersonic missiles and drones that have proven effective in previous operations.
The situation escalated after the Houthis previously successfully hit a target in Tel Aviv with a Yafa suicide drone. The drone flew through much of Israel without being intercepted by Israel's Iron Dome air defense system or US warships, raising concerns about missile defense capabilities in the region.
