The Yemeni Ansar Allah movement, better known as the Houthis, has announced large-scale military operations against US and Israeli targets. According to a spokesman for the group's military wing, on the night of March 25, 2025, their forces allegedly struck the US aircraft carrier USS Harry Truman and the warships accompanying it in the Red Sea. According to the Houthis, the attack was carried out using drones and missiles. At the same time, a representative of the movement announced a missile attack on Ben Gurion International Airport in Tel Aviv, emphasizing that such actions were a response to US and Israeli support for military operations against Yemen.
In response, the Israeli Defense Ministry responded promptly to the threat. According to the ministry, the missile, launched from Yemeni territory, was successfully intercepted outside the country's airspace. An air raid alert was briefly declared in the Tel Aviv area, but no damage or casualties were reported. The Israeli military emphasized that its air defense systems remain on high alert, given the ongoing threats from the Houthis. At the same time, the Pentagon has neither confirmed nor denied the information about the attack on the USS Harry Truman, limiting itself to a statement that American forces in the region continue to carry out tasks to ensure the safety of shipping.
The Houthis’ claims of striking such high-profile targets are not new. The group has repeatedly reported such operations in recent years, but none have resulted in any confirmed successes. Military experts tend to view the claims as part of a propaganda campaign aimed at strengthening the movement’s position among supporters amid the protracted conflict in Yemen. However, the very fact that such threats are made underscores the ongoing tensions in the region, where the interests of the United States, Israel, and Iranian-backed forces continue to clash.
