The airspace of Crimea

ICAO refuses to recognize Crimea as part of Russia

July 9. The International Civil Aviation Organization refuses to recognize Crimea as part of the Russian Federation.

A representative of ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) voiced this statement today, while saying that although the organization can not prohibit the flight of Russian aircraft to the territory of the Crimean peninsula, it will not miss international flights in this direction. It should be noted that, as a kind of sanctions, air traffic controllers of Europe stopped servicing the aircraft following the course to the territory of the Crimea, which somewhat complicates the development of air traffic on the peninsula.

It is quite possible that in the near future the international organization recognizes the airspace of the Crimea as belonging to Russia, after which European aircraft will arrive here.
