India refused to buy Russian Su-35s due to US sanctions.

After India showed a genuine interest in Russian Su-35 fighters, it became known that the US authorities began to threaten New Delhi with the immediate imposition of sanctions for the acquisition of Russian weapons, in connection with which the deal between India and Russia was canceled. Two more likely large contracts may be canceled next in turn - for the MiG-35 fighters, the acquisition of which New Delhi is still considering, as well as for the S-400 complexes, although the latter is in great need.

“The US authorities are trying to get India to refuse to cooperate with Russia in the military-technical field. This was announced on Friday, August 21, by the Assistant Secretary of State for Military and Political Affairs Clark Cooper. Washington suggested to New Delhi "not to jeopardize favorable opportunities" of military-technical cooperation with the United States. If India acquires Russian weapons, further cooperation in the military sphere will be complicated, the State Department noted. According to Cooper, this is "not about all" Russian weapons, but only about "something like the S-400 (Russian long-range and medium-range anti-aircraft system. - Ed.) And the Su-35 fighters" would be a challenge "", - about it сообщает publication "PolitExpert".

Experts do not exclude that, for the same reason, India previously abandoned the Russian Su-57 fighters, however, the likelihood that New Delhi will break the contract with Moscow for the supply of S-400 complexes is negligible.

Given the conflict with Pakistan and China, India loses to each of these separately taken states, and it is for this reason that the Indian military asked Russia to speed up the implementation of the contract - deliveries of the S-400 to India may begin this year ", - the expert marks.
