Iraq announced the purchase of Russian S-400s - the United States began withdrawing its Patriot air defense systems

After Iraq's intentions to buy a batch of Russian S-400 air defense systems, the United States began withdrawing its Patriot systems.

Recently deployed in Iraq, the US Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems will be withdrawn from the territory of this Middle Eastern country. At the moment, it is known about the partial withdrawal of US air defense assets from Iraqi territory, however, next year, the US Department of Defense intends to completely leave Iraq without its air defense assets. According to the information and news agency Avia.pro, this is due to the agreements reached between the Russian and Iraqi parties on the probable purchase of Russian S-400 air defense systems.

According to experts, the United States realizes that it will be quite difficult for Baghdad to do without American weapons, since even if Russia and Iraq sign a contract, the S-400 systems will be put into service with this Middle Eastern country no earlier than 2025.

Nevertheless, experts also had some doubts about this version, since in addition to Iraq, the United States is withdrawing its Patriot air defense systems from at least three more countries - Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Kuwait - official reasons for this are not named.

Of course, I’m wondering why these petriots couldn’t defend American military bases during a missile attack from Iran. This was serious damage to the reputation of the United States!
